Functional Medicine is the new method of diagnosis and treatment for chronic diseases.

  • It can be learned and practiced by any qualified medical doctor. The acute treatment does not change, only the approach to the chronic disease changes.

  • It is more about finding the root causes-

  • and treating those root causes, not just controlling symptoms lifelong.

  • In the learning process, you will spend 80% time on mastering diagnosis and 20% time on learning about treatment.

  • In the treatment part, you may use 60% lifestyle changes, 30% supplements, and around 10% drugs. You can even avoid using medicines in some cases.

  • All doctors who learn functional medicine will start using it in their own health from day 1. Doctors are one of the unhealthiest populations.

We aim to provide training in Functional Medicine to doctors in India and other Asian countries.

Our Team consists of medical doctors with more than ten years of experience in functional medicine, under the leadership of

What Sets Functional Medicine Apart?

While conventional medicine often follows a disease-centered model—focusing on diagnosis and pharmaceutical treatment—functional medicine takes a Root cause focused, patient centered approach. It views the body as an interconnected system rather than isolated organs. Instead of asking “What drug matches this disease?”, functional medicine asks, “Why is this happening in the first place?”

It emphasizes understanding the biological, genetic, environmental, and lifestyle root level factors that influence health. Practitioners use in-depth assessments, advanced diagnostics, and integrative treatment plans involving nutrition, movement, stress reduction, sleep hygiene, detoxification, and mind-body practices.

Key Differences:

Conventional Medicine vs Functional Medicine differences

Disease-focused vs Root cause-focused

Symptom suppression vs Healing and prevention

Short consultations vs Comprehensive evaluations

One-size-fits-all vs Personalized care plans

Often drug-dependent vs Emphasizes lifestyle & nutrition

Why Functional Medicine is Crucial for Complex Diseases

Most chronic diseases today have multifactorial origins—interplay between inflammation, nutrient deficiencies, hormone imbalances, gut microbiome dysfunction, and more. These are not always visible in routine lab work or treatable with a single pill. Functional medicine goes deeper, uncovering the "hidden" mechanisms behind these conditions and addressing them holistically.

For example, two patients with the same diagnosis—say, hypothyroidism—may have entirely different root causes: one due to chronic stress, another due to gluten sensitivity. Treating both with the same thyroid pill is not optimal. Functional medicine helps tailor treatment based on individual biochemistry, which is critical in reversing disease progression.

Why Learn Functional Medicine?

As a healthcare practitioner, learning functional medicine equips you to:

  • Understand complex, chronic cases that are resistant to conventional therapy

  • Reduces Drug use in long term, and use correction of root level issues through ifestyle changes, supplements and less drugs.

  • Offer advanced, integrative solutions to patients looking for real healing

  • Lead the future of healthcare, combining modern science with timeless wellness practices

  • Create lasting impact, improving quality of life for patients who have “tried everything”

How to learn Functional Medicine?

Functional medicine is learned from training hubs across the globe. Western centers are costly, and they may not give practical solutions. There are centers which provide partial training- ie nutritional training or training on specific systems like gut therapeutics etc. However, a total learning is ideal in healthcare.

We at Steplite Clinical centers use functional medicine for practical treatments and we train doctors in a more direct patient-oriented approach. We also provide in house residency programs where the learners can work with us and get the direct experience.

If you are ready to learn, join one of our programs.

we have two types of programs

General Training in Functional Medicine for Medical Doctors

Specialist Programs for specific diseases- PCOS management for Gynecologists, Diabetes Prevention and Reversal for Physicians who are managing diabetes, Asthma Reversal etc.
